Toilets In Norway
I have not recorded much for the time I was in Norway about toilets, as most, even those in the middle of nowhere were clean and well maintained, but I do need to point out the ones that were not.
Firstly the ones at the funicular Flibanen at Bergen, the first I entered was so disgusting I felt I should not use it at all, the one next to it was nearly as bad but I was desperate, I cannot understand how or why a place that has so many visitors cannot keep its toilets in a reasonable condition.
The other was the one at the railway station at Oslo which had only a dim blue light in the cubicles, I presume it is to deter people using them for drugs or similar but they were so depressing, although clean
As I have said elsewhere its odd how some charge and others do not, having to pay on this trip did not ensure any better quality than back home

Copenhagen Harbour toilets
Yet again I needed the toilet, the first I found were onthe way to the Little Mermaid statue, it was down a flight of steps but quite worrying was the fact there was only a single outside door and no screen so it was possible to see men using the urinals, as I was desperate I decided to go in, what a terrible state they were on, one was covered so obviously not working, but two others were blocked and full of urine so not only looked but smelt terribly to, the cubicles had no paper in them but at least would flush, I am totally amazed that this is acceptable in this sort of area where peple from all over the world visit on a daily basis

Bury Interchange Toilet
When I first arrived I found I needed to put 20p in a machine, not much help if desperate and have no change, then the barrier was rather odd to make sense of, initially the place seemed clean in the general area, but as soon as I went into the gents the usual smell hit me, I am not sure if its poor maintainance or bad cleaning, or maybe they are trying to save water on the flushing, everything seemd to work, but walls were not that clean

Dublin Airport Toilets In Arrivals Hall
Dublin Airport Toilets In The Arrivals Hall
I visited these toilets this weekend after a flight, initially I thought they looked not to bad, until I went into the first cubicle, the lock did not work, the second had urine on the seat, maybe we should not blame the staff for this it could of just happened, the soap taps and dryers all worked, the smell was not to bad and the overall appearance was ok
Manchester Piccadilly Station Toilets
Manchester Piccadilly Station Toilets
Over the years I have needed to visit these toilets on many occasions, in the good old days they were sited below platform level but always clean and tidy, unfortunately for the last few years the ones on the main platform are somewhere I would never by choice use, even worse is the fact that they charge for the privilege of using them, at present it is 30p, of course as a traveler in a hurry the last thing we need is to have to search for the money to pay and, if have no change use the change machines before we managed to gain entry, I think its worth reminding readers at this point that the station is run by Network Rail a nationalized company so we already pay for this service
Often outside there are members of staff, I think they are employed by a private company, I do think if they spent more time inside cleaning them it would be a great help, although they do seem to go in with mop and bucket every so often. The toilets always smell strongly of urine, even if they have toilet blocks to help, which in themselves smell very strong, the hand dryers often will not work, or at least its finding the elusive ones that will, at times the door locks will not function or the flush does not work in certain of the cubicles.
If you can avoid them and wait till you find a better cleaner place then do so, lets hope somebody reads this and the station operators start to address this ongoing problem
Toilets Good and Bad I have visited on My Travels
I decided to Create this Blog as a result of my visits to some really outstanding toilets and some terrible ones. We all need to use public toilets at some time or other so its important that we feel they are of a good standard, have a neutral or pleasant smell are accessible and everything works. A pleasant layout helps and there is a plentiful supply of soap, air dryers and or paper towels and very important toilet paper, sadly some are lacking in many of these or at times even all. So I hope ththis will help readers of the Blog on where they are to avoid or feel it was not the worst experience of our lives
